Short Bio

Pemra C. ÜNALAN, MD. completed her postgraduate training in Family Medicine in 1997 at Şişli Etfal Public Hospital, in Istanbul with a thesis: “A Prospective Study To Investigate The Natural Immunity Against Haemophilus Influenzae Type B Among The Children Between 0-6 Years Of Age”. She worked as a Family Physician in Ministery of Health, Mother and Child Health Care Centers between 1996-1998. She began her academic career in Marmara University Medical Faculty Department of Family Medicine as a trainer. Completed her M.Sc. degree in 2009 in Medical Biology and Genetics, Marmara University Health Sciences Institue with a thesis named “Genetic Consultancy for Women Who Have Risk of Familial Breast Cancer: Baseline Situation in Turkey and a Model Suggestion”. She became an Associated Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2015 in Family Medicine. Her major educational and clinical interest was about medical education, elderly care, home care, mental health, behavioral approach and preventive medicine. She has experienced memberships in Home Care Society and Breast Health Society in Turkey as non-govermental organizations. Her interest in under and postgraduate medical education led her to take role as the Coordinator of an innovative program “Introduction to Clinical Practice” in Marmara Medical School Undergraduate Medical Education program since 2001. She is an experienced medical teacher and a clinical tutor who was an elected member for the Board of the Turkish Family Medicine since 2009, Head of the Istanbul Branch of Turkish Family Medicine Specialists Association (TAHUD) 2010-2020, a direct member of World Organization of Family Doctors (1998) and EGPRN (2009).
